Stroke Development Clinic

(PRE-SWIM TEAM)
Session I: March 29th - April 22nd
(4 weeks)
Session II: May 4th - June 11th (6 weeks)

Stroke development is for swimmers who have never participated in competitive swimming. Athletes will work on developing freestyle and backstroke, and be introduced to butterfly and breastroke. The clinic is an excellent way to prepare for the Edge swim team. At the conclusion of the clinic, swimmers will be evaluated to see if they are ready for the Edge team.
Requirements: Swimmer must have passed Red Cross Level 3, or pass swim skills assessment given by coach on first day of clinic. To move on to Junior Team, swimmers must be able to swim: 25 yards of backstroke, 25 yards of freestyle with rotary breathing, forward flip in the water, 10 yards of dolphin kick.


Swim Lesson Program

First Splash
First Splash is a parent and child class. This class exposes you and your child to the water in an enjoyable and safe environment. The class includes songs, games, and basic water skills.

Preschool Level 1
(ages 3-5)
Designed to make children feel comfortable in and around the water, and learn basic aquatic skills.

Preschool Level 2(ages 3-5)
Children start to have more independence in the water, as they gain more comfort. Safety skills are incorporated.

Preschool Level 3(ages 3-5)
Children learn to perform swimming skills independently on front and back. Safety skills are incorporated.

Fall and Winter Swim Lessons
Session I: September 14th- October 23rd
Session II: October 26th- December 11th (no classes week of 11/22)
Session III: January 3rd- February 12th
Session IV: February 14th- March 26th

Learn to Swim Program The goal of the Learn to Swim Program is to introduce new swimming techniques and increase safety skills around the water. Our lessons follow the Red Cross guidelines and each level provides a building block for the next.

Individual Adaptive Swim Lessons
Sports & Fitness Edge is proud to introduce a new program run by our Adaptive Swim Specialist, Cass Hoffman. The program is designed for individuals with a variety of disabilities; children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) are strongly encouraged to participate. Lessons offer a variety of positive outcomes for your child and are structured based on the strengths and needs of the individual.

Cass Hoffman swam competitively for ten years. She taught swim lessons to groups and individuals ranging in ages from birth to adult. She has worked with children with special needs for over five years, primarily children with ASD.

Adaptive Swim Lessons:
• Are designed for youth to learn basic swim skills
• Offer individuals the many benefits of the therapeutic qualities of water
• Create an opportunity for motor skill acquisition and strengthening
• Encourage increased social and communication skills
• Enhance individual’s ability to be independent in the water
• Increase knowledge of basic water safety skills
• Offer an opportunity to participate in a fun and relaxing life long skill

All lessons are 45 minutes in length.
Lessons are typically one to one ratio.
Semi-private adapted lessons available upon request.
Lessons are available at the Essex, S. Burlington and Williston locations.
No prerequisite skills required!

Level Lessions


Level 1
This level is an introduction to the water. To pass this level the student will need to be able to swim with assistance, be comfortable in the water and submerge their mouth, nose and eyes.*


Level 2
To pass this level the student will need to be able to swim 15 ft with out assistance. They will also need to be able to float without assistance.*


Level 3

To pass this level the student will need to do the front and back crawl 15 yards.*


Level 4

To pass this level the student will need to do the front and back crawl 25 yards and the breaststroke 15 yards.

Private Lessons
Learn to swim or improve your strokes or your child’s swimming with an instructor. One-on-one Private lessons offer the greatest flexibility with the added advantage of one-on-one attention.
One ˝ hour lesson

Semi-Private Lessons
Enjoy the fun of swimming with a friend or sibling at a reduced rate. Sign up together or call if you are looking for someone to share the lesson with. One ˝ hour lesson

Adult group lesson

An experienced Aquatics Professional teaches adult group lessons. Whether you are an experienced swimmer or you have never swam before there is a class for you.



Master Swimming

Master Swimming is a swim team for adults. An experienced Aquatics Professional who has swam at the collegiate level coaches the team. Whether you want to compete or just have a good work out this is for you. Emphasis is placed on stroke development, physical conditioning and competitive techniques.

Aquatic Class Descriptions


Aquatic Body Conditioning
A moderate to high intensity cardio segment and muscle conditioning followed by stretching.


Aqua Fit
A moderate to high intensity class that combines cardio with strength building. Class is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels.


Aqua Step
This class is held in the competition pool at E2. Start with a warm up and then increase intensity using a step in the water for a moderate to intense workout.


Aqua Nuts
Anything goes in this moderate intensity hour! A variety of formats and equipment will be used.


Aqua Power
Get your heart working in the cardio segment, then strengthen muscle and improve balance and coordination for a well rounded workout.


Aqua-X
(Essex only)
A chance for children to learn exercise and fitness through swimming. Annemarie Cutrone will guide your children through various swim related exercises, station work outs and VASA training to increase both skill and fitness. Must have passed level II. Practices Mon – Thurs 4:00-5:30 or 5:30-7:00. Next session to start after the first of the year.


Cardio Combo
Uses various formats of interval training, circuit training, water boxing, and toning. This is a complete workout that really kicks butt!


Cardio Wave
An energetic aqua workout designed to challenge and condition the entire body.


Challenger
Intense conditioning class for the experienced water exerciser. Class utilizes a variety of equipment for added resistance.


Energizer
The morning class that gets your day started right! Class includes a warm-up, 30 – 40 minutes of cardiovascular exercise, followed by a cool down and stretching.


H.A.R.T.
Hydro Aerobic Rigorous Training – that says it all! Intermediate to advanced fitness levels of any age, with focus on posture and core muscle groups. Lots of movement and fun!


Hydro Gym
This moderate to high intensity class combines stationary exercises with cross current
exercises. An intense cardio segment followed by strength training.


Liquid Tai Chi
Combine the beautiful, flowing movements of tai chi with the resistive and relaxing properties of water. Perfect for all fitness levels.


Power Waves
Alternate between aerobic intervals and active recovery for a great cardio and calorie burning workout.


Water Wave Challenge
An aerobic workout that uses the water’s natural resistance to increase cardio fitness.


Water Walking
Strength and endurance walking using the resistance of water with optional use of Hydrofit equipment.


Just my speed
Low intensity moves followed by stretching and toning make this class perfect for beginners, mom’s to be, seniors, etc.


Stretch-n-Tone
Designed specifically for seniors, this class uses low intensity moves, stretching and toning for a complete workout.


Arthritis Classes – Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program
Designed for many types or rheumatic diseases and related manifestations. Swim skills not needed. Club and pool are handicap accessible. Taught by certified instructors.
Free for members, $35/month for non-members
